The concept for Rivals Barbershop came to Khedron Mims when he was servicing customers at his first barbershop Changing Faces Barber Shop located in the Phoenix Shopping Center on Fayetteville Street in Durham, North Carolina.

After years of observation showed him that customer’s interest are in sports, mostly NCAA Basketball in the triangle area. They were either Carolina fans or Duke Fans, so Mr. Mims, a Carolina fan himself, started hosting rival basketball parties at the barbershop when the teams face off. The gatherings were so successful that customers would rave about when the next gathering would be.
